Tab by - Daniel Hunter email questions to - |*** [email protected] ***| i myself am relatively new to drums, i don\'t take lessons, so everything i say is what i have figured out purely through common since, but i have progressed so fast that i have a point of view from both sides, here it is, good luck... this is not the first step to drumming, if you\'re having trouble, go back and work more on regular on beat stuff, you need to have good rythm to do this... | *** *** *** *** basic between beat *** *** *** *** *** ***| C Crash Cymbal Sp Splash or other effect H Hi Hat Rd Ride Cymbal t Small tom T Middle Tom S Snare Drum F Floor Tom B Bass Drum Hf Hi-Hat with foot the key to between beat drumming, the first step to a great drummer, is being able to hit a brum when your not neccesatrily hitting the hi-hat or ride at the same time, all you have to do is count when the stick hits, and when the stick is in the air, half way between hits now lets try it... some basic between beat stuff, not too hard...H|x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X- S|----o-------o-------o-------o--- B|o--o--o---o---o-o--o--o-o-o----- tiny bit harder, the same with some between beat snare...H|x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X- S|----o-------o-------o----o--o--- B|o--o--o---o---o-o--o--o-o-o----- harder, with more between beat snare, and high hat differentials, but it\'s an awesome beat, especiall played fast...H|x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x---O- S|----o-------o-------o--o-o-ooo--B|o--o--o---o---o-o--o--------o-o- this time, your going to play basically the same beat, but with added effects symbols to make a little character jump out at the listener, it\'s sounds best with a splash or oriental china, either one adds alot of much needed flavor, of course there is always the crash, but that should always be coordinated with the song, not the beat, try the added effects... Sp|-------o----------------o-----o- H |x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X- S |----o-------o-------o-------o--- B |o--o--o---o---o-o--o--o-o-o--o-- now we\'re going to fit in a simple roll at the end of the beat, this is a fill beat, sometimes fills are harder to spontaniously add in during the song when you have between beat rythms going on, it also more difficult to have the effect symbols, so take some of those out, so here is a simple one to start you off... t |----------------------------oo-- T |------------------------------oo F |--------------------------------o* Sp|-------o------------------------ H |x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x----- S |----o-------o-------o---o------- B |o--o--o---o---o-o--o--oo--o----- *the hit on the floor tom is off the chart because it carries into the first beat of the next bar, so you will hit the floor tom at the same time you hit the bass drum at the begging of the next beat, play it twice in a row and you will understand this one has a fill fitted in with it also, but this fill is a little harder and longer... t |-------------------------o------ T |------------------------------o- F |----------------------o---o----o Sp|-------o----------------------o- H |x-x-x-X-x-x-x-X-x-x-x----------- S |----o-------o-------o---o----o-- B |o--o--o---o---o-o--o---o----o--o that\'s it, there\'s much more, if you have any questions, comments, or requests, feel free to email me at |*** [email protected] ***| later, Dan
