          G
Sometimes I picture this town
          D
Two hundred years ago
          A/C#
They say it used to snow
          C
The creeks all filled with gold
         G
Sounds of siren songs
        D
And the songs of swans
     A/C#
Egrets in their flocks
            C
Wading in the aqueducts

G D A/C# C

[Verso 2]

          G
Sometimes I picture this town
        D
From a thousand years ago
         A/C#
Before it half-burned down
              C
Before it was filled with ghosts
           G
Back then the rain from the hills
            D
Made the rivers rage
            A/C#
And the hummingbirds sipped
          C
From the hummingbird sage

Our love, it came on a wake

So strong that it made us break

It came in fits and starts
                C
But always in the cards
         G
Songs of unending ache
               D
I baked your ring in the cake
             A/C#
And I see your trembling hand
        C
Pointing at the map
