A noble whale ship and commander
 C Am
Called the Catalpa, they say
     C F
Came out to Western Australia
     C G7 C

        C F
So come all you screw warders and jailers
   C Am
Remember Perth regatta day
      C F
Take care of the rest of your Fenians

And seven long more had to stay
       C F
For defending their country Old Ireland
     C G7 C
For that they were banished away

[Verso 3]

     C F
You kept them in Western Australia
       C Am
Till their hair began to turn grey
        C F
When a Yank from the States of Americay
     C G7 C
Came out here and stole them away

Take care of the rest of your Fenians
        C G7 C

And making short tacks for the spot
         C F
But the Yankee she tacked into Fremantle
     C G7 C
And took the best prize of the lot

[Verso 5]

     C F
The Georgette armed with bold warriors
     C Am
Went out the poor Yanks to arrest
         C F
But she hoisted her star-spangled banner
         C G7 C
Saying you'll not board me I guess

And sing o'er these few verses with skill
     C F
And remember the Yankee that stole them
         C G7 C
And the home that they left on the hill

[Verso 7]

Now they've landed safe in Americay

And they will be able to cry
      C F
Hoist up the green flag and shamrock
    C G7 C
Hurrah for old Ireland we'll die
