C C Dm G
Yeah, I thought I'd reminisce once more

[Verso 1]

C
The other day I heard a record on the radio
D
 That sweet record:
Dm G
"The Wedding Bell Blues"
C
It brought me back to the summer
C Dm
I started to think about the summer of 1969
G C
It's funny how you remember the summers by the records
    C
And two records stood out for me that year
Dm G
There was "The Wedding Bell Blues", and "Leaving On A Jet Plane"

|C |C |Dm |G

C
We used to walk on those hot nights
C Dm
Co a pub just off Oxford Street, called "The Grapes".
G C
We were both sixteen, they were sweet, warm nights
C Dm G
And it's a fond memory now
C C
We decided we should adopt a song
Dm
 A song that was current
G C C
She wanted "I'll Say Forever, My Love" by Jimmy Ruffin
                                Dm G
I wanted it to be "Lola" by The Kinks
                              C
We seemed to hear those two records everywhere we went
C Dm C
The two I mentioned previously were predominant songs on the radio at that time
                     C C
I'd hear them in the mornings when I was having my breakfast, getting ready to go to work
Dm G
   Well, she won
                      C C
It was never really acknowledged but "I'll Say Forever" became the song

[Refrão]

Dm G C C Dm
        I'll say fore-----ver my love

[Verso 2]

(Dm) G
Some nights I'd walk her home along the Edgware Road
             C
Experiencing for the first time this warm friendship(I'll say fore-----ver my love)
C Dm G
And not wanting to be anywhere else
C C
It didn't last, and it happened that my feelings changed before her's
Dm G
But I'll always remember those days

 C C Dm G
Wo-o-o-o-oh, o-o-o-o-oh, o-o-o-oh! (you were asking me)
 C C Dm G
Wo-o-o-o-oh, o-o-o-o-oh, o-o-o-oh! (I care, baby - anyway!)
